Description

This course provides an introduction to ORBIS, Global Affairs Canada’s modernized consular and emergency case management system. Participants will learn how ORBIS supports consular casework, emergency events, and mission emergency planning through streamlined information management, intuitive searching, and integrated reporting tools. The course covers essential tasks such as creating and managing consular cases, emergency events, contacts, registrants, and activities, as well as using dashboards to support decision-making.

Learning objectives

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • describe the purpose and key benefits of ORBIS for consular operations, emergency management, and mission emergency planning
  • navigate the main ORBIS modules and understand how information is organized across cases, events, contacts, and activities
  • create and manage core records such as consular cases, emergency events and related tasks or documents
  • use search and dashboards to support operational decision-making
  • export ORBIS data to Excel for analysis and information management
