Description

This course will help participants become familiar with core consular functions at Mission. Topics covered will include: International and Canadian legal framework, case management and program management considerations.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • apply best practices in the management of consular policies and cases such as: death, arrest and detention, family/children’s issues, financial assistance for distressed and vulnerable clients, and taking into account mental health considerations
  • apply program management best practices including writing efficient and factual consular case notes, review program performance to consular and passport service standards
  • understand how Canadian and International legal instruments influence consular case management
