This course is an opportunity for leaders to reflect on how they have enhanced their leadership practice and performance through previous experiences relating to equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI). To enhance their own leadership practices, participants will consider inclusive leadership traits; active listening as a facet of intercultural communication; inclusive decision making; and direction and guidance provided by the Government of Canada’s and Global Affairs Canada’s current EDI, Anti-Racism, Accessibility and Indigenous Reconciliation policy frameworks. Participants will briefly consider change management models to define entry points for inclusive leadership.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
- discuss leading with considerations for diverse cultures for inclusion and impact
- identify a recognized inclusive decision-making process
- state barriers to inclusive leadership, as well as specific tools and opportunities to strengthen inclusion
- draw from various approaches to change management to define entry points for inclusive leadership
