This course provides participants with in-depth presentations, peer-to-peer learning and group discussions to enhance the understanding of the department's approach to Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), the process of attracting foreign companies to Canada, as well as the resources that are available to help Trade Commissioners and Investment Officers in their investment attraction efforts.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
- describe Global Affairs Canada’s FDI attraction strategy and mandate
- identify the programs and services available to support FDI initiatives at post
- discuss terminology of target, lead and prospect
- recognize the importance of accurate, quality reporting and the FDI key performance indicators
