Description

This session covers several topic concerning overseas postings including:

  • the shock of being in a new country – the lifecycle
  • stress and anxiety: type of stress related to the world of expatriation; tools and resources
  • reactions and adaptations to being overseas
  • how Canadians values plays a role in your cultural adaptation
  • self care first to best support self and others, tools and resources
  • critical Incident: What are they? What to do?

Learning objectives

Upon completion of this session, participants will be able to:

  • reflect on the impact of going overseas on their mental health
  • recognize the positive impacts or challenges they are currently experiencing with their upcoming posting

Notes: This session is part of the pre-posting training program. Spouses and partners are encouraged to attend when possible.
