This online course is of particular interest to employees travelling or being posted to countries that experience natural disasters. It provides general information on natural disasters, emergency preparedness, resources available when facing a natural disaster as well as preparedness, response and recovery measures for the most common hazards around the world.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • understand natural disaster-prone areas, the common types of natural disasters as well as their impacts
  • better prepare, respond and recover from a natural disaster while abroad
  • know who to contact when facing a natural disaster

Notes: The course is open to Government of Canada employees and provincial co-locators who are posted to one of Canada’s missions abroad. Government of Canada employees and provincial co-locators will need to contact Learning-Apprentissage@international.gc.ca to register.
