Public Servants are responsible for providing reliable, accurate, and comprehensive information to Canadians at home and abroad. In public affairs, this is often done through the media. The media landscape has evolved drastically and society’s need for immediate information has created new avenues to consume news media, and new challenges such as disinformation and “fake news.” This session explains the media environment how to engage with the media.

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • explain the media environment
  • outline techniques and best practices when engaging with media
  • prepare newsworthy, effective key messages when responding to media
  • identify Global Affairs Canada processes and policy resources
