Description

This online course consisting of four modules will provide employees with an introduction to key concepts and theories in economics with an emphasis on Canadian interests.

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • explain why countries, specifically firms, trade
  • identify the benefits and opposition to free trade and protectionism
  • describe absolute and comparative advantage
  • describe new trade theories and global value chains
  • explain why governments intervene in international trade
  • describe the importance of foreign direct investment
  • recognize a balance of payments, types of accounts and exchange rates
