Description

This course is designed to help participants understand Canada’s current human rights obligations and priorities internationally.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • describe Canada’s international human rights obligations and priorities
  • examine Canada’s Guidelines on Supporting Human Rights Defenders
  • discuss Canada’s recommendations for the UN Human Rights Council’s Universal Periodic Review
  • describe the role of civil society in advancing human rights internationally
  • examine multilateral forums that address human rights
  • analyze tools used to uphold human rights commitments
