Description

Adapting effectively to Canada’s cultural, business and academic environments is not always easy. Courses are available that will help you make the most of your time in Canada and maximize the benefits of the experience as you prepare to return home. These courses will help you gain the skills you need to become interculturally effective: able to establish and maintain successful working relationships in a Canadian context.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

On-arrival orientation course:

  • understand the influence of culture on your values, beliefs and behaviour
  • adapt to Canadian culture, business and academic environments
  • establish effective communication and relationships with Canadians
  • have practical information about living and working in Canada
  • develop strategies for rapid adjustment to the Canadian environment

Mid-term orientation course:

  • assess your adaptation and integration into Canadian society and with your work and/or academic environment
  • review strategies for building effective relationships and communication with Canadians
  • analyse your progress to date and identify your personal objectives for the successful completion of your time in Canada

 Pre-return orientation course:

  • identify new knowledge, skills and attitudes gained in Canada
  • develop strategies for successful personal readjustment and professional reintegration
  • practice techniques for sharing new competencies in the professional environment of your home country

Note: This training for groups is also available to other government departments and non-governmental organizations on a cost-recovery basis.
