Description
This course provides participants with the skills and knowledge necessary to assume leadership and managerial roles at missions and to prepare them to promote Canadian interests in their host countries. Participants will 1) review government priorities and departmental strategies that will have an impact on their programs and 2) understand the leadership and managerial competencies necessary to be successful as Head of Mission abroad: organizational awareness, communication, team building, action management, inter-personal relations and values and ethics.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
- understand their role as a leader and a manager of a program within a mission.
- make informed decisions with respect to financial and human resources management.
- manage a crisis.
