Description

The course for middle managers centers on two elements: (1) adopting a human-centered approach to leading diverse teams in the Global Affairs Canada context; and (2) developing the knowledge and skills necessary to manage effectively in a hybrid international work environment. The human-centered approach principles addressed via the course include building self-awareness and self-regulation skills, understanding and adapting to employees needs, guiding the collective development of team culture, creating, and sustaining meaningful connection and communication with staff, supporting employee performance and talent development, as well as fostering a collaborative and healthy workplace in the Global Affairs Canada complex international context.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • recognize the mindsets and benefits of adopting a human-centered leadership approach in the Department’s evolving work context
  • explore tools to manage yourself, lead your team and foster a healthy work environment
  • identify strategies to build and nurture trusting, and respectful working relationships, create growth opportunities and embrace the diversity within your team
  • adapt your communication skills to increase your influence and impact as a human-centered leader in the Department
  • practice effective feedback technics
  • identify appropriate strategies to address difficult conversations
  • establish your own plan to apply human-centered leadership principles in your team dynamic
