Description
Although many would say that children can adapt to anything, the reality is that moving to a different country has an impact on them. Discussion about the reality of Third Culture Kid will be provided to try to understand some of the reactions and challenges that may be present, as well as how can we, as parents, better prepare them for the move abroad.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this session, participants will be able to:
• identify solutions to children reactions and challenges to moving abroad
• explore strategies and best practices to assist parents
• outline the concept of ‘Third Culture Kid’
Notes: The session is open to Government of Canada employees and provincial co-locators who are posted to one of Canada’s missions abroad. Government of Canada employees and co-locators will need to contact Learning-Apprentissage@international.gc.ca to register.
