Description
This course will provide participants with an opportunity to understand and apply some of the key concepts of emergency management in the context of a Canadian mission abroad. Participants will be introduced to Emergency Management (EM) theory, the Mission Emergency Plan (MEP), the Incident Command System (ICS), Business Continuity Planning (BCP), and the structure and role of the Security and Emergency Management Bureau (CED).
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
- explain the basic concepts of emergency management
- describe key roles, responsibilities and operations involved in the conduct of emergency management activities
- identify preparedness strategies and mechanisms adopted at Global Affairs Canada
- describe key roles and responsibilities within the Emergency Response Team
- apply practical knowledge of the Incident Command System
