Description

Tweens and teens usually have very strong opinions about moving abroad. Some are keen, others not so much. This workshop will help parents better understand the possible reactions and challenges that might show up. Information about ‘Third Culture Kid’ will be provided to try to understand the reality for these tweens and teens.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this session, participants will be able to:

• identify solutions to tween/teen reactions and challenges to moving abroad

• explore strategies and best practices to assist parents

• outline the concept of ‘Third Culture Kid’

Notes: The session is open to Government of Canada employees and provincial co-locators who are posted to one of Canada’s missions abroad. Government of Canada employees and co-locators will need to contact Learning-Apprentissage@international.gc.ca to register. To register spouses and partners for this session, employees will also need to contact the email address.
