Virtual Classroom

2 X 2 hours

The training aims to foster a safer, more welcoming and inclusive work environment for everyone, including lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning and two-spirit individuals and others of diverse sexual orientations and gender identities (2SLGBTQI+). The training is provided by and to volunteers who become advocates of workplace inclusion with a focus on 2SLGBTQI+ related issues. Positive Space advocates often use identifiers to show that they and their spaces are intended to be safe and inclusive, and that they may be available as resource people. They discuss gender and sexual orientation without bias, while respecting the confidentiality of all.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • understand the national and international contexts of 2SLGBTQI+ rights and inclusion
  • understand and use the appropriate vocabulary for gender and sexual orientation
  • explore scenarios in class and discuss situations at work that can implicate 2SLGBTQI+ rights and inclusion
  • identify ways to help build a safer and more inclusive work environment, and practice this at work
