Description

This workshop will provide participants with the necessary knowledge and tools to teach the Positive Space workshop. The workshop aims to foster a safer, more welcoming and inclusive work environment for everyone, including lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning and two-spirit individuals and others of diverse sexual orientations and gender identities (2SLGBTQI+).

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

• understand the national, international, personal, professional, emotional and physical context around 2SLGBTQI+ rights and inclusion
• teach employees about 2SLGBTQI+ rights and inclusion using current sexual orientation and gender diversity vocabulary, emphasizing the importance of using appropriate language in relation to gender and sexuality
• become a resource person and advocate to review and discuss situations that may arise in the workplace involving 2SLGBTQI+ issues
• identify ways they can help foster a safer, welcoming and inclusive work environment, and promote this within the department
• be a co-facilitator of the workshops
