Employees being posted abroad for the first time often find it difficult to understand how the department's missions function, how reporting lines work, what the different terms mean, and why we have non-departmental personnel in these missions.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Describe how the department functions outside Canada
- Define the different positions and titles through structures to the programs running, both outward-facing and inward-facing
- Explain how Canada interacts with the host countries through its various programs
- Describe the relationships between partner agencies and co-locators and the department
- Define the relationship between the various positions within each mission's hierarchy
