Description

This training is part of the Foreign Service Onboarding Program (FSOP) and is by invitation only. The training aims to orient newly recruited foreign service officers at the FS-01 level to the policies, processes, and operations of Global Affairs Canada, including in Canada’s missions abroad. Special emphasis is placed on examining the work of the foreign service streams and responsibilities.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • articulate key departmental policy priorities and Canada’s diplomatic engagement globally
  • describe the evolution of Canadian democracy and diplomacy
  • explain modern day factors shaping Canada’s diplomatic engagement on the world stage
  • have deeper knowledge of the forms of diplomacy, work of streams, departmental processes, tools, and resources
