This course will assist employees to become acquainted with the protections that certain employees and accompanying family members may be afforded, along with those of Canadian missions abroad.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
- define privileges and immunities and explain their purpose and basis under international law
- explain the different privileges and immunities applicable to the mission, certain staff, and accompanying family members
- identify what privileges and immunities might be implicated and require consultation with Global Affairs Canada headquarters, should incidents occur abroad
