This course aims at sensitizing and preparing employees and their spouses, partners, and dependents (16 years and older) being posted or employees undertaking official travel, to detect, plan, mitigate and react to personal security threats they could face.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
- define what situational awareness is
- describe the five levels of alertness identified in Cooper’s colour codes
- identify the appropriate level of alertness required in situations where threats to your personal security exist
- distinguish the difference between a threat and a risk
- name personal security best practices and customise risk mitigation measures taking into consideration personal vulnerabilities to prevent or minimize the likelihood of becoming a victim in a personal security incident
Notes: The course is open to Government of Canada employees and provincial co-locators who are posted to one of Canada’s missions abroad.
