This course will provide participants with an understanding of the breadth and complexity of Canada-United States (U.S.) relations set against the backdrop of the priority that the Government of Canada gives to its relations with the U.S. in its foreign policy, as well as the challenges and current issues it faces in the management of the relationship.

Canadian Economy Primer
This course is available to other government department employees on a cost-recovery basis. This course will give participants a deeper understanding of economic phenomena as a whole and how they apply to their work at Global Affairs Canada. It will allow participants to situate Canadian economic data in an international context and explain why international trade is essential to our economy.

Building on the Level I course, this course explores the rise of China and its impact on the world order and the international economy. FPDS and Trade Commissioners will get an understanding on the political and commercial impact of China abroad. This class will provide participants more in-depth, issue-focused and applied knowledge on political and economic dimensions of China engagement.

This course is available to other government department employees on a cost-recovery basis. This course is set against the backdrop of the rise of China and its impact on the world order and the international economy. It aims to enable employees to get an understanding of the driving forces within China and of the country’s international political and commercial aspirations.
Climate Change Fundamentals
This course is available to other government department employees on a cost-recovery basis. Climate change is the quintessential global issue and cuts across the boundaries of domestic and international policy, development and trade. This one-day course is designed to provide participants with a high-level overview of the drivers and impacts of climate change, the Paris Agreement, Canada's commitments and actions on climate change, and how Global Affairs advances Canada's climate change policies and programs.
